When talking hardware, it’s not always the case that biggest means best. Instead, it’s often better to take the bigger picture into account. You could have the best specs in the world, but if the developers struggle to get the best out of them, it could lead to a weaker product than your direct competitor (anyone remember the PS3?). Power means nothing without control, after all.
PS5/Xbox Series X Comparisons
On paper, the Xbox Series X is the best bet when it comes to hardware. However, developers have already praised the work environment available on the Playstation 5 which is offered by their custom SSD hard drive, made specifically for the PS5. As for technical aspirations, both companies have made more or less the same promises: ultra-reactive interfaces, minimal loading times thanks to SSD hard drives, ray-tracing, and a steady 4K60fps. As for the Xbox Series S, the specs are a bit underwhelming, but the ultra-affordable price makes up for it.
Xbox Series X/Xbox Series S Comparisons
The goal of this console is to offer 1440p60fps with an entry price of $299. Like the PS5 digital, the Series S can go about its task thanks the various services offered by its manufacturer, which we’ll cover a bit later. However, it seems that this console isn’t to everyone’s taste: some developers see themselves obliged to factor in the Series S, and its technical restrictions, when designing their game, therefore leading to additional development time on their part.
