We’ll address the main characteristics of the PS5 and the Xbox Series X with a recap of all the information you need to know to make the right decision, assuming you’re still undecided. On each page of this article, you’ll find a section for each console that covers the topics outlined in the title, cutting right to the point wherever possible. This article is intended to be as impartial as possible and we hope in any case to give you a better understanding of the differences between these two next-gen consoles.
PS5: Price & Release Date
We need to factor in the amount of speculation that there is around these two important details. Over the last couple weeks, we’ve been picking up rumours of a console going for 599$. This would have been a massive error on Sony’s part, given their console is underequipped from a hardware perspective compared to their direct competitor. They’ve done well to prevent the PS5 from suffering a similar fate to the PS3, when Sony released a machine that was way too expensive for the common man. Finally, one small quirk needs to be brought to the forefront: the PS5 launch can be split into two sections, with the first wave of stock available for the 12th November, followed by a second wave 7 days later.
Xbox Series X: Release Date & Price
To the surprise of no one, Sony and Microsoft have both settled on roughly the same pricing points, with the Series X costing $499, or $35/mo. for 24 months on All-Access. However, Microsoft successfully distinguishes itself from its competitor with its Series S, a less powerful machine admittedly, but one that is a considerably less expensive. The ability to try out this “next-gen” that is all the rage, all for the price of a Nintendo Switch? It really should be said that it’s an incredible selling point for the Xbox, though it remains to be seen whether the Series S will be able hold its own when it comes to the more ambitious titles that aim to show off everything the next generation has to offer.
