The collaboration may seem strange, but in reality, Houseparty is owned by Epic Games. It was only natural that the publisher wanted to connect the two platforms by unveiling a new feature unique to Fortnite: in-game video calls.
Fortnite can also be described as a huge social network, allowing players to connect, watch concerts, participate in movie shows... This new feature is just in line with the editorial line wanted by the publisher.
From now on, you'll be able to link your Epic Game account directly via the settings of the Houseparty application.
To bring video chat into Fortnite, take these steps:
- Open Houseparty on iOS or Android and Connect to Fortnite through Settings or the TV icon.
- Join your friends like you normally would or invite them to join you.
- Fire up Fortnite on a PC or PlayStation.
- Continue talking to your friends while you play.
Exclusive weapon wrap
If you link your Epic and Houseparty accounts, you'll be able to unlock the Rainbow Fog Wrap as a bonus. The gift is to be unlocked in another way to compensate for the fact that the feature is currently not available on all platforms, as Fortnite explains:
"We know that Houseparty video chat is not available on all platforms, so we’re giving you another way to get the Rainbow Fog Wrap. Between November 20 (12:00 AM ET) and November 26 (11:59 PM ET) if you play five matches of Fortnite with friends, you’ll receive the wrap by December 4, 2020."
