It's very difficult to choose between the two new next-generation consoles, each with significant advantages. While Sony is announcing a number of extremely interesting exclusive titles for its PlayStation 5, Microsoft has a major advantage for its Series X/S through the Game Pass.
What's the Gamepass?
Microsoft's Xbox Game Pass Ultimate gives you access to over 100 console, PC and mobile games from the cloud. In addition, you'll have an EA Play subscription giving you instant access to EA console games. All this will cost you $12.99 per month for the Ultimate version or $9.99 per month for PC-only or console-only versions.
Future Game Pass made in Sony ?
The announcement of such an exclusivity by Microsoft immediately set the cameras on Sony: how will they react? Will they offer the same kind of service? TASS, a Russian press agency, asked Sony CEO, Jim Ryan (source).
In other words, the answer is extremely evasive since the PlayStation boss would have simply answered that "there is actually news to come, but just not today. We have PlayStation Now which is our subscription service, and that is available in a number of markets."
There's nothing to get excited about. In the interview, Jim Ryan preferred to focus on the exclusive titles that will be available on PlayStation 5 rather than on the arrival of a possible Game Pass. He doesn't seem more concerned than that. However, if the CEO didn't want to say anything, it doesn't necessarily mean that Sony wouldn't be currently working on their own version of a Game Pass.
Sony's calm attitude towards the Game Pass, but also towards Microsoft's acquisition of Besthesda, only makes us wonder what the creators of the PlayStation 5 have in store for us. While they've a number of exclusive titles and an excellent range of games for a next-generation console launch, it may not be enough to keep up with the new features that Microsoft is continually announcing.
