North American pro player Ethan "Ethan" Arnold has stepped down from Evil Genius' Counter-Strike roster to join a new title: he'll be competing in VALORANT for 100 Thieves. The young American is the latest CS:GO pro to swap Valve's shooter for that of Riot Games.
Ethan's move is a surprising one. Considered to be a great talent, he found great success with Evil Genius' roster. Towards the end of 2019 he won ESL: One and StarSeries Season 8. Just last year Blast Premier's American Finals and ESL One: Cologne 2020 Online were also added to the trophy cabinet.
With the signing of Ethan, 100 Thieves' already strong roster only seems to improve: he joins Joshua "steel" Nissan, Nicholas "nitr0" Cannella, Spencer "Hiko" Martin, and Peter "Asuna" Mazuryk. Those four players won the First Strike tournament just last December.
Ethan's first task on his new team will be to grab the title at the VCT Stage 2 tournament, which was recently announced to be held on-site in Reykjavik, Iceland. There, ten international teams will compete to lift the trophy and stand tall among international competitors for the first time in the game's esports history.
The first-ever offline international tournament for VALORANT has been announced by Riot Games. From May 24 until May 30, ten teams will fight for the trophy in Reykjavik, the capital of Iceland.
