One of this month's biggest releases, Apex Legends has long been anticipated on Nintendo Switch.

Now, developer Respawn Entertainment have dropped a trailer showing how the game runs on the console.

Players can play Apex Legends for free on Switch starting March 9, with 25GB of free space required to install.

To celebrate the release, Switch players will be granted 30 free levels and double experience points for the two weeks. They'll also earn a Legendary-quality Pathfinder skin.

First released without any advance warning in February 2019, Apex Legends saw a boom in popularity in 2020 across PC, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One.

Set in the Titanfall universe, it features duos and trios doing battle using a cast of 14 legends, each with their own unique abilities.

Analytics firm Statista puts the player base at over 75 million registered users as of October 2019, while last month EA said it had seen a 30% growth in new players year-on-year while reaching revenues of $1bn in less than two years.

It's an impressive performance for EA's battle royale title, which is due to hit Nintendo Switch and mobile platforms in the near future.
