With Apex Legends celebrating its two year anniversary with Season 8, EA has revealed an impressive set of financial results.
As part of EA's earnings call, CFO Blake Jorgensen confirmed that the game has already grossed a billion dollars — before even the Nintendo Switch and mobile versions have been released.
Respawn's free-to-play battle royale is coming to the Nintendo console in March, with the popularity of the game in Japan a major reason for the Switch release.
“Japan is the second biggest market for Apex, which is very exciting for us. And we know it's one of the biggest markets for the Nintendo Switch,” said CFO Blake Jorgensen.
Jorgensen also hinted that the mobile version could be a significant source of income. Scheduled to be released within three-to-four months, the publisher wants to launch the project "gently."
While a lot of work to achieve, it's not impossible that there will be a beta trial of the game before release. However, no concrete information is forthcoming on that matter.
The game is also expected to be released in China soon, but due to regulatory approvals this could take longer than expected.
The ambitions for the game are clear: to expand as much as possible into the global market and continue to grow profits and revenues.
