FNCS kicks team out of tournament following a player's threats directed at Epic Games CCO

Epic Games has removed a Fortnite team from their Fortnite Champion Series (FNCS) after one of the players Tweeted a threat at Epic Games Chief Creative Officer Donald Mustard. The player, only known by the moniker 'wrigley', took to the social medium to tell Mustard to "literally fucking k!ll your$elf".

Though the Tweet and the entire Twitter account have been removed from the platform, Epic Games is still landing down with a severe ban hammer. Rather than punishing the individual, the company decided to also remove teammates Dictate and Userz from the FNCS, without granting them the opportunity to replace Wrigley. It has led to a lot of pushback from the community and frustration on the side of Wrigley's former teammates, as they state to have had no influence on Wrigley's behaviour.

The teamless trio had been doing well in the FNCS. Just one week earlier, they finished fourth in the NA East Season 5 Heat 3 series of this competitive Fortnite Season, raking up 1740 points for the standings. This qualified the roster for the next stage of the competition, but all of that has now been annulled. Besides losing their ticket to the competition, all of the team members have to forfeit any prize money they earned in the season.

Though many people in the Fortnite esports community have been vocal and critical about Epic Games' decision, the company has not yet announced any changes to their ruling.
