The report, which reveals Neflix are looking for an executive to lead 'future video game initiatives', comes from The Information and was picked up by Andy Robinson at VGC, It also says that Netflix have approached veteran game industry executives about joining the company.
Games are not a new concept to the streaming giant, having fused television and games with the interactive episode Black Mirror: Bandersnatch, and teamed up with developer BonusXP on Stranger Things 3: The Game.
While Netflix chief Reed Hastings has previously denied that his company would look to create a games subscription model, the report suggests that it will follow the route Apple have taken with its Arcade service.
For $4.99 a month, Apple users can access a whole raft of mobile titles. Heavyweight developers such as Final Fantasy creator Hironobu Sakaguchi (Fantastian) and Will Wright (creator of The Sims) have released games on the service.
Neflix have worked with several video game IPs over the years, from Castlevania to The Witcher, but this would be a new market entirely. No other information on the company's plans is available at the moment.
