After being cancelled last year due to the ongoing pandemic, E3 returns in 2021 with an 'all-virtual' event. Taking place June 12-15, it will feature a four-day long video stream, live press conferences, and of course, plenty of game reveals.
Registration for the event, which organizers stress is 'completely free' is being rolled out over this week and next. Access is through a 'new E3 exclusive online portal and supporting mobile app', although just what the event will look like specifically is yet to be revealed.
The rollout is as follows:
- Media: Registration open now
- Exhibitors: Registration opens May 26
- Industry, Influencers & Creators: Registration opens May 31
- Fans: Registration opens June 3
Once registered, content will be live for certain categories according to the tweet above. Media will have five days of access to exhibitors and partners, before the main event begins.
Among the publishers and developers confirmed for the event are:
- Microsoft/Bethesda
- Ubisoft
- Nintendo
- Capcom
- Take-Two Interactive
- Square Enix
- Sega
- Bandai Namco
- Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment
- and many more
Sony will not participate, instead choosing to hold their own events since 2019.
Rumoured games that could be revealed or shown during the event include Battlefield 6, Starfield, Breath of the Wild 2, Far Cry 6, Final Fantasy XVI, Forspoken and possibly some Grand Theft Auto news.
According to rumours circulating online today, a new Final Fantasy spinoff game, *Final Fantasy *Origin, is being developed by Team Ninja (Nioh) and supposedly takes us back to the first game in the series.
No doubt plenty more rumours will begin to circulate with E3 being just a month away, but it's probably not best to get your hopes up of Elden Ring...
