Wild Rift, referred to as League of Legends Mobile in China, was approved by China's National Press and Publication Administration (NPPA) in February, but the game has yet to officially launch. It is currently being tested by its publisher, Tencent.
However, it seems that competitive tracks for the game have already been revealed — with the LPL circuit running from August 2021 until January 2022.
TJ Sports, a joint venture by Tencent and Riot Games, will be in charge of organizing the LPL.
16 teams from the LPL will compete in League Mobile for five slots to the professional esports league later this year — it seems that only Suning will not participate in this project, for unknown reasons.
With the support of powerful sponsors like Oppo, the TJ Sports project also features two other tracks: an influencer track, and a national track that brings together aspiring Wild Rift pros totalling 32 teams.
