After several leaks and rumors, Call of Duty: Vanguard has finally been unveiled through a special event in Warzone - and has a release date of November 5, 2021.
Taking the series back to World War II, the Sledgehammer Games-developed title promises the usual bigger and better gameplay, offering single-player, multiplayer, Warzone integration and the usual Zombies mode.
Being a cross-generation game, Activision has stated there will be both cross-play and cross-progression, meaning you can play with friends on any platform.
Call of Duty: Vanguard - Editions
As always, there will be several different editions players can purchase.
This gets messy, so hang on to your hats.
There are three types of package, separated by Digital and Physical editions:
- Standard Edition
- Cross-Gen Bundle
- Ultimate Edition
Players who purchase any Digital Edition will receive the following:
- Early access to the Vanguard Open Beta
- Night Raid Mastercraft Submachine Gun Weapon Blueprint for Warzone and Black Ops Cold War
- Operator Arthur Kingsley for Warzone and Black Ops Cold War
- Opportunity to pre-load Vanguard
Physical Editions
There are two types of physical edition for Vanguard:
- PlayStation 4 or Xbox One - $59.99
These will give players the Standard Edition of the game and early access to the Open Beta.
Can be played on PS5 or Xbox Series X via backwards compatibility, by inserting the disc into the consoles.
The PS4 version will have an option to upgrade to the PS5 version through the PlayStation Store, but only for the PS5 with a disc drive -- this is because the disc must be inserted into the console to access the PS5 upgrade.
The Xbox One version cannot be upgraded to the Xbox Series X|S version.
- PlayStation 5 or Xbox Series X - $69.99
This includes the Standard Edition of the game and early access to the Open Beta.
The Xbox Series X version can be played on an Xbox One, by inserting the disc into the Xbox One.
- There are no physical editions for PC
Digital Editions
- Call of Duty: Vanguard Standard Edition for PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PC - $59.99
This grants the game, access to the Open Beta, the Frontline Weapons Pack, and the benefits listed above.
It can be played on next-gen consoles, via backwards compatibility.
- Call of Duty: Vanguard Cross-Gen Bundle for PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S - $69.99
This grants either both PlayStation versions or both Xbox versions.
Players also get five hours of Double Weapons Experience Points for Vanguard and Warzone, once Vanguard is released, as well as the Frontline Weapons Pack.
Naturally, there are no cross-gen bundles for PC.
- Call of Duty: Vanguard Ultimate Edition for PlayStation 4/5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X|S, PC - $99.99
This grants players the Cross-Gen Bundle for either PlayStation family consoles or Xbox family consoles, or the PC version.
It includes all of the benefits of the Cross-Gen Bundle and the bonus items above, and the following:
- Battle Pass Bundle: the Battle Pass and 20 Tier Skips
- Task Force One Pack (see below)
- Five hours of Double XP and five hours of Double Weapon XP for Vanguard and Warzone in the form of tokens, to be used on release.
Ordering the Utimate Edition from the in-game Black Ops Cold War or Waerzone stores will be rewarded with an extra 10 Battle Pass Tier Skips, which can be used immediately in either current title.
