Legendary EU midlaner (and sometime ADC) Luka "Perkz" Perkovic has succeeded where his former team failed, as his Cloud9 team booked their tickets to the League of Legends World Championship.
Similar to the way the EU playoffs have gone, two legendary teams met in a straight shootout for the final Worlds place in their region. While G2 were unable to overcome nemesis Fnatic, Cloud9 had no such trouble against perennial rivals TSM.
The match also paired the two biggest signings in LCS history, Perkz and TSM support Hu "SwordArt" Shuo-Chieh, who between them are reported to have cost their clubs more than $10m.
In a tremendously even best-of-five series, TSM struck first with by dominating the first game and closing out the win in 31 minutes.
Although PoE and Lost repeated their good performances in the second game, Huni and SwordArt combined for figures of 0/13/12. Despite those stats, it took Cloud9 44 minutes to seal the win. TSM then re-took the lead, in another half-hour game.
With Cloud9 on the ropes, Perkz came out to shine. Figures of 1/8/6 with Syndra and 7/0/10 with Irelia helped his side seal their participation in Worlds
They then move on in their quest for the LCS title. Team Liquid await in the final, while their immediate opponents will be 100 Thieves.
