One of the most surprising things in recent times, for those of us who have been involved in League of Legends for many years, was the introduction of an ADC who doesn't quite fit the mould of a typical marksman.
We're not talking about off-meta botlane picks like Ziggs and other mages -- who, while rare, still fulfill a similar function in the botlane in terms of farming and growing in power.
Instead we're talking about Senna, the lost love of Lucian who instead practices fasting, typically not feeding on creeps at all.
Thanks to her passive ability, Absolution, Senna is able to grow in level and strength not through minions, but through the souls collected when creeps and enemies alike are defeated.
Minions, jungle monsters and champions can all drop souls, which each award her a small amount of gold and 0.75 AD for each stack. She also gets a bonus for every 20 stacks, and gains 20 additional range and 10% of critical hit chance.
The thing with Senna is that, since she was intended as a support, there was a percentage of these souls appearing without her having any direct involvement.
As such, she could become a top-tier marksman in the metagame, without ever dedicating herself to killing minions and making use of her gold. Although this effectiveness was changed with the various patches released, she was still an ideal teammate in the botlane.
Everything changes in the latest patch
Now, with the latest patch changes, the probability of souls appearing when Senna kills a minion has more than doubled, to its highest ever level.
From release, this percentage was 5.5%, then it fell to 1.67%, rose to 8.33% and finally settled at the 4.166% that we have had for almost a year now. 'Fasting Senna' was born when the rate was 1.67%, when she wasn't viable in the early game as a dedicated ADC.
Thanks to this change, the chances are players will revert to farming minions using Senna, as quicker gold and souls accumultation helps her power spike.
Could we be about to see Senna as a fully-fledged farming ADC?
