For those who were lucky enough not to experience this problem on Elden Ring, here is a little background on the past situation: some people's save files were conflicting with those stored in the Steam Cloud.
Bandai Namco had set up several guides for players to manually fix the issue but it was not an easy manipulation and it only took one small mistake to reduce several hours of play to ashes.
Yesterday morning, Bandai Namco confirmed that the Steam Cloud issue was finally fixed . An update for the Steam client has been released which helps to avoid conflicts between our local and cloud data. Therefore, if it is not already done, remember to update your Steam client, otherwise you will not be able to take advantage of this correction.
The update should be done automatically (in case you have chosen to launch updates automatically), otherwise check for Steam updates by going to the horizontal bar at the bottom of your screen. A page will open allowing you to see the updates that have been queued.
Please note that this issue was not limited to Elden Ring as other games have had this backup issue.
