Like its predecessors, Elden Ring has many secret passages that must be revealed with an attack or a roll. Players don't hesitate to point them out with a helpful message on the ground. But tons of little pranksters also have fun putting false messages in front of walls that are very real, in order to encourage players to waste time by following their advice. In the majority of cases, we suspect that it is not a secret passage, but we can not help but check. Of course, the studio is aware of all this, and it has prepared a poisonous gift for the community.
Volcano Manor's Very Solid Illusion Wall: A FromSoftware Joke?
After seeing this video on Reddit , we went to check, and there is indeed a special illusionary wall in the Volcano Manor. To reach it, you must agree to join the faction, then go around in the hidden corridors accessible after revealing a normal illusory wall in one of the adjoining rooms. After a few turns, we can discover what seems to be the most obvious illusory wall in the game , or even in the license, since there is clearly a doorstep, with messages, probably malicious, indicating that it is is a secret passage, of course.
The joke obviously being that it really is a secret passage, but it takes dozens and dozens of hits to reveal it . The destination also has something to laugh about, since it is simply the guest lounge of the mansion, which is both close and easily accessible. We save a few seconds in the best case.
This is best seen as a big joke on FromSoftware's part , as well as a nod to community practices , since this wall is both obvious, far too long and painful to open, and above all, completely useless. This probably means that there are no other such secret passages. There is normally no need to start attacking 50 times and more on each wall of the game, that would be absolutely infernal. But we can't prove that there aren't others, and it's certain that hardcore players will now use this method on suspect walls, so as not to miss anything. We wish them good luck.
Edit : A second secret passage of the same type was found in the area, it is also useless.
Ghiza spinning wheel: a clue and the solution?
We can see this as an extra joke or a hint from the devs, but an invader drops an exotic weapon on the Volcano Manor floor, the Ghiza Spinning Wheel, aka the Pizza Cutter, or the Circular Saw. It allows you to attack at very high speed by holding down the L2 button. If you ever want to test many walls quickly, this is the tool for you.
