Elden Ring in VR, what does it look like?
0

A developer has just created a VR mod for FromSoftware's latest game, Elden Ring. So set off to discover the vast world of the Underworld in total immersion… at your own risk!

The Underworld is vast, and full of wonders of all kinds... or even terrifying creatures! In any case, the map of Elden Ring has many areas, all as diverse as each other that it is, for each Without-splinter, a pleasure to explore. What if we told you that, thanks to a mod, it will soon be possible to experience all of this… in VR?

A unique experience

It is a developer by the name of Luke Ross who is at the origin of this unique mod on Elden Ring. In the past, Ross had created VR mods on many games like Cyberpunk2077, GTA V, or even Red Dead Redemption 2. This time, it was on the game of this beginning of the year that the developer set his sights, recently announcing the imminent arrival of a VR mod for the production of FromSoftware. Here is an excerpt, published on his YouTube channel.

A mod that is already highly anticipated by the community, which exploits a first person view , different from that available in the original game.

The third person view in this game is really far away (about 5 meters on average) and it doesn't work very well in VR. Instead of being in the thick of the action, you're like, 'Hey, is there something going on over there?' Nevertheless, I'll leave the original camera as an option for purists. I will probably also add an intermediate camera, in the third person. But I think the first person camera is the ideal solution.

No risk of getting sick?

Indeed, this is the question that many users have asked following the excerpt posted by Luke Ross. Many fear that VR is not really suitable for a game like Elden Ring, where the fights are very intense and hectic. For players being sensitive to this type of system, there would therefore be a great risk for them to fall ill during the experience . According to Luke Ross, this is not the case.

In an interview for PCGamer , the developer clarified that his work was studied precisely to avoid this type of digestive problems : "When rolling or performing other animations such as combat movements, the camera follows the character's head. (so its position changes) but it stays oriented correctly based on what your head is doing in real life, so the horizon will stay horizontal and the world will always look stable."

This should therefore reassure our movement-sensitive Shardless who can therefore go and face Radagon, and other bosses in the game, serenely.

Elden Ring

Luke Ross is therefore actively working on the mod, which, according to him, should be available before the end of the month . In any case, we can expect it to be available for download very soon on its Patreon page. We can not wait to see the result !
