A month ago, dataminer Lance McDonald already offered us a glimpse of what lurked inside the mysterious giant Elden Ring Coliseums. For the moment, these inert structures have no interest, and unless you cheat, impossible to pass the doors.
What do these strange a priori uninhabited arenas have in store for us? Let's take a look at the information collected by the player.
What's Hiding in the Colosseums
There are a total of three such arenas in the Underworld. The one that interests us the most is the one located north of Leyndell , the capital of the Kingdom. Indeed, it is in this one that Lance McDonald was able to enter last month, revealing that beyond the already imposing exterior appearance, the interior of the building was just as elaborate . It's hard to believe that these are simple sets and that FromSoftware would not have expected players to be able to enter them at one time or another.
Sneaking through normally inaccessible passages, the dataminer was able to arrive at the heart of the Colosseum and discovered a magnificent, very well-crafted arena , surrounded by bleachers and overlooked by a no less impressive observation area. At this stage, the community has deduced that there must necessarily be future PvP places that could open in the coming months.
Only then, since this discovery, another dataminer named Sekiro Dubi was able to dig into the subject. Using the " DSMapStudio " map editor and Elden Ring source files, he was able to reconstruct the Leyndell arena almost identically. On this version, he frees himself from any limit since he can walk around freely in his reconstruction.
He then realized that the area housed, among other things , a site of grace and two enemies still unused in the game: the Imposing Gladiator and the Old Lion of the Arena. These elements therefore rather suggest that the players are supposed to arrive in this coliseum during their adventure, the places being then rather thought for PvE .
What can we expect?
We are now sure of two things: the Colosseums will be used in the future , it is unthinkable that they have been worked on so much for nothing, and the theme that reigns in these places does indeed revolve around arenas and Circus games. Romans .
Now, there are two theories , moreover not incompatible: the first remains that the place is intended for PvP , an official zone allowing for example to organize tournaments, or even to reveal a system of classification . The second is that it will be content for a future PvE oriented DLC .
One of the items Sekiro found in the Colosseum hints that it was a ritual battle arena to honor the Erdtree before the ascension of King Radagon, so it's possible that future content will take us in the past of Inter-Earth to relive this time, FromSoftware being fond of DLC based on time travel.
In your opinion, rather PvP or PvE , then? And if you could choose, which side would you lean on?
