Social networks are inseparable from the good health of some very big service games like Fortnite. However, it happens that information flows from these platforms are completely fake. This is the case with a recent rumor about Epic Games' Battle Royale, which first spread on TikTok.
Several "influencers" on TikTok have indeed argued that Fortnite will soon no longer be available on Nintendo Switch. The rumor is based in particular on the fact that the Nintendo Switch would not be powerful enough to optimize Fortnite. Of course, this rumor is completely unfounded, so you can breathe: you will still be able to play Fortnite on Switch in the months and years to come .
Of the rumor that stains
Some videos relaying or staging this unfounded rumor have reached one million views on TikTok. We have here a textbook case on the propagation of false information from start to finish, via social networks.
The only good reflex to adopt in this type of situation is to check the social networks of Epic Games. The Switch is one of the platforms that welcomes the most Fortnite players, and Epic Games would necessarily have communicated if such a break was really going to happen.
The Epic vs. Apple trauma
It is still quite rare that false rumors like these manage to spread so quickly on social networks. For some commentators, many fans believed it in particular because Fortnite has already disappeared for real from one platform: IOS phones (and other devices).
The dispute between Apple and Epic Games is still ongoing, and it is still impossible today to play Fortnite via the version of the App store. Means now exist to circumvent this concern (via Nvidia or xbox cloud gaming for example), but this end of historical compatibility had marked the spirits, in the summer of 2020.
