German FIFA player Mohammed "MoAuba" Harkous caused an upset on the final day of the FIFA eWorld Cup to be crowned world champion.
After a thrilling console final against the top ranked PlayStation player, Nicolas "nicolas99fc", which will go down as one of the most memorable games in recent FIFA esports history, he then held his own against the formidable Msdossary in the Grand Final to walk away with $250,000.
Here's how Day 3 unfolded at the O2 Arena and how MoAuba surprised everyone to become FIFA 19 champion.
Xbox Final: Rafsou vs Msdossary
Despite Msdossary coming out on top, it was no walk in the park for the defending champion. Fouad "Rafsou" Fares established a 2-1 lead in the tie with Msdossary not playing to his usual high standard.
However, the Saudi Arabian, spurred on by his coach and 2017 world champion, Spencer "Gorilla" Ealing, kept composed and pushed on to lead the tie 4-2.
Rafsou grabbed a late goal to keep Msdossary on his toes, but it was too little too late as he booked his spot in the Grand Final for his chance to become back to back world champion.
PlayStation Final: MoAuba vs nicolas99fc
As if the Xbox final wasn't enthralling enough, the PlayStation final offered up one of the most exciting games of FIFA in recent memory.
Nicolas99fc, the favourite for the fixture, was blown out of the water in the first leg by MoAuba who went into the second leg with a convincing 4-1 lead.
Nicolas99fc scored first to make it 4-2, but the three goal cushion was soon restored by MoAuba.
However, the Argentinian picked up his game and scored two more to make it a nail biting finish as the game crept into stoppage time.
With a stroke of luck and what was virtually the last kick of the game, nicolas99fc completed his comeback to level the game at 5-5 leaving the O2 in disbelief.
A goalless extra time resulted in a tense penalty shootout, with underdog MoAuba winning the tie 4-3 on penalties, sending him through to face Msdossary in the Grand Final
Grand Final: Msdossary vs MoAuba
In a match up where all the odds were stacked against the German, Werder Bremen's MoAuba was victorious and denied Msdossary his chance to be back-to-back champion.
In the first leg, played on Msdossary's favoured Xbox, MoAuba took a shock lead with a header from his Prime Icon Ronaldo.
Msdossary drew level with a fortunate Neymar rebound, but neither player could add to their tallies as the first leg concluded all level at 1-1.
The PlayStation leg saw MoAuba sail into a 3-1 lead after Patrick Vieira tucked in a rebound and Cristiano Ronaldo finished off a well worked move.
Msodssary managed to claw one back through Kai Havertz, resulting in a tense end to the game.
With some brilliant game management and superb defending, MoAuba kept the score at 3-2 to become FIFA 19 world champion, something few would have predicted at the start of the tournament.
He becomes Germany's first ever world champion and walks away with $250,000.
