A few days earlier, we learned that new combat mechanics and ranked games would be available in Pokémon Sword and Pokémon Shield. With all the features offered by Pokémon Global Link now included in the game on Nintendo Switch, it seemed logical that it should be stopped.
A sad fate for the Global Link that arrived in 2010 with the Black and White games. As a reminder, it allowed to do online battles, see distribution regulations and the event calendar. All this will be possible through the Pokémon HOME, a new Android and iOS application available in early 2020.
As for the classified games and online battles, they will be played via an Internet connection and therefore a subscription to Nintendo Switch Online.
