An all new mechanic coming to Pokemon Sword and Shield will boost your Pokémon and make them... giants!
Dynamax: how does it work?
The mechanic is as grand as the name suggests — thanks to the Dynamax Band, a bracelet worn by the Trainer, a Pokémon will temporarily transform into a massive version of itself for three turns.
That Pokémon will benefit from big stat bonuses, and its usual moves will be replaced by Max Moves — devastating attacks with additional effects.
For example. a Normal-type attack will become Max Strike and will lower the opponent's speed.
Gym Battles will incorporate Dynamax at one point or another, while we also know that this new gameplay mechanic will be used during Max Raid Battles — encounters with a Dynamax-boosted Pokémon that will require teams of Trainers to defeat.
