Almost untouched since the game's launch, Fortnite's matchmaking system will soon receive radical changes. Epic Games will do so in two steps:
- with Patch 10.40 deployment (on Wednesday)
- with Season 11 launch
In the next patch notes, the matchmaking system for all game modes will be modified. Until now, only the Arena mode has its own matchmaking system. Solo or squad games haven't and it was not uncommon to be against opponents who were outrageously strong or weak. v10.40 will change that and provide games where all players will have a similar level.
It is difficult to know how Epic will proceed and what data will be taken into account for the device. The publisher will also have to monitor the queue time required for the new matchmaking!
Bambis vs Bots
The second phase will come with the deployment of Season 11. Epic Games is planning to integrate bots (non-player characters controlled by a computer) to fill beginner players' games. The publisher claims that their behavior will be much the same as that of a player starting the game.
We also know that the number of bots will decrease according to the level of the players during the games, and that there will be no bot in competitive modes/games.
