TheShy, the Toplane Carry
Kang "TheShy" Seung-lok started his professional carer in the Team WE in 2014 then struggled to find a proper team until he was recruited by Invictus Gaming in 2017. They ended up the LPL 2017 Summer with the third place but failed to qualify for Worlds. The next year, however, they reached the Worlds' finals and rush through finals by beating Fnatic 3-0.
Nevertheless, TheShy and his team performed pretty badly during the 2019 Season: they got eliminated in MSI semi-finals and ended up with the 7-8th place at the end of the LPL Summer Split. Thanks to a miracle, they eventually managed to qualify for Worlds by winning the LPL 2019 Regional Qualifiers. The least we can say is that their performance could be compared to a roller coaster!
TheShy is a surprising player that changed the way we're perceiving League of Legends competitive scene. While we all think that ADC or midlaners are supposed to carry their team by bringing heavy damages, TheShy is that kind of player that proves that toplane champions could actually take this role. He is incredibly strong when playing bruisers and high-damage champions such as Aatrox, Kennen, Irelia or Akali.
Thanks to his solo kills and the pressure he puts on the toplane, TheShy managed to invert the lanes' priority — forcing his opponents to completely change their method. He was without a doubt the best toplaner during Worlds 2018 but this year a lot of different players want to snatch his title: will he be able to keep it while carrying his team to the victory?
