Patch 9.20 was shipped to Teamfight Tactics yesterday with the usual load of changes and new features. However, one thing seems a bit vague: the changes brought to the Thief's Gloves.
Introduced alongside patch 9.19, this item brings a lot of possibilities — especially since it allows you to transform one of your basic champions into a carry (something that usually requires three items but that you can do with once thanks to the Thief's Gloves).
Thief's Gloves have something different: they 'lock' the item slots of the champion who's carrying them, and generate two randoms items each round. These items are actually distributed into 'combinations' that depend on your Level. You can find a chart of all the possible combinations at the end of this article.
What did patch 9.20 changed?
Almost nothing. The last patch notes mention the fact that "the average quality of combinations" has been lowered. It means that the chance of getting a high tier item combination has been reduced.
Examples
- If you're between the level 1 and 3, you will only get Tier 1 Item Combinations.
- If you're level 6, you will have a 40% chance to get a Tier 1 Item Combination, 40% to get a Tier 2, and 20% to get a Tier 3
- If you're level 9, you will have a 20% chance to get a Tier 2 Item Combination, 40% to get a Tier 3, and 40% to get a Tier 4
Combinations Tier List
The most powerful combinations — such as Giant Slayer + Guinsoo's Rageblade or Spear of Shojin + Statikk Shiv — are obviously belonging to the Tier 4. Tier 1 also includes combinations of combined and basic items.
Even though the chance to get good combinations seems to have been reduced, we're still considering the Thief's Gloves are currently the best item of Teamfight Tactics — don't you think?
