'Same shroud. New home.'
With 7 million followers on Twitch, Michael Grzesiek aka 'shroud', is one of the most famous streamers on the American FPS scene, capable of broadcasting on PUBG, Apex or CS:GO. After Ninja a few months earlier, it is therefore a new mastodon in the middle who is switching from Twitch to Mixer, Microsoft's streaming platform that seems willing to take control of the game.
Originally created under the name Beam, the platform was purchased in 2016 by Microsoft and renamed Mixer. It was quickly integrated into the Xbox division and One owners can launch live events directly from their machines. Despite its timid beginnings, the platform seems determined to put in place the means to attract the biggest names, as well as to prepare for a new era.
For the time being, the phenomenon is 'only' affecting the American continent, but we can imagine that streamers around the world will soon be inclined to make a pivotal choice for the rest of their careers, judging by Microsoft's gargantuan ambitions.
