You couldn't have missed it: the BlizzCon comes with its share of new features for all Blizzard games! Overwatch 2, Diablo 4, there will be many announcements on different licenses and Hearthstone will not be left out! Indeed, the Blizzcon will be the venue for the announcement of the latest extension of this Year of the Dragon!
For the first expansion of the year, Mrs. Lazul had announced the arrival of the Legion of the E.V.I.L in Dalaran alongside Rise of Shadows expansion. For the second expansion, it was the King Togwaggle who, by touching the fortuneteller's cards, revealed the arrival of the League of Explorers at Uldum alongside Saviors of Uldum.
For the last expansion of the year, Mrs. Lazul returns in a teasing video that we let you discover below.
In this last expansion, the confrontation reached its climax between the Legion of the E.V.I.L and the League of Explorers. The future of Hearthstone and Azeroth as a whole seems to be in our hands for this extension, and it will be our choices that will determine which side will win!
The backs of the cards that Mrs. Lazul handles frequently change colors, between the orange of the explorers and the purple of the E.V.I.L, recalling the last two trailers where these colors were also associated with them.
What we know
The expansion will be unveiled on November 1 during the Blizzcon. The end of the video ensures this, and we will have the opportunity to play with both the forces of the E.V.I.L and the explorers. The E.V.I.L's plans are on the way and are close to success, but the explorers are also very close to making them fail. The tension is at its height and we will be the central part of this year's outcome.
But that's not all!
This trailer gives us several clues — notably thanks to Madame Lazul's crystal ball. We can see the Wyrmrest Temple, an ancient building located in Dragonblight near Northrend, the place where the five Great Dragon Aspects — Alexstrasza, Neltharion, Malygos, Nozdormu, and Ysera — were blessed. Above the temple, Dalaran can be seen floating. The tower is also the place where Deathwing was impaled. Finally, we can see in the crystal ball a skeleton of what could be a dragon, with a wooden construction, surely indicative of recent excavations.
What could happen
Several possibilities came to our mind:
- Either the confrontation is between E.V.I.L and explorers
In this case, it is possible that Blizzard may offer us a form of community voting, for instance through games won/played, that will influence Azeroth's fate.
- Either a new threat appears
It could be the occasion for a return of Deathwing such as in Heroes of the Storm, which has already welcomed him as a new hero. Whether he appears as a common threat, or as an indirect ally of the E.V.I.L, his return would be truly hyping!
Another clue: the calendar of the year of the Dragon. The third expansion is characterized by a central stone that seems on fire, on a wooden door from which a claw/tooth comes out. In addition to the information we were previously talking about just before, the arrival of a dragon — or at least the spread of his influence — seems really obvious.
One last Plague: the Final Plague has not yet been revealed, and we don't know yet all the E.V.I.L's plans. On the surface, nothing in these two expansions is directly related to dragons, but that's not completely true. In one of this year Tavern Brawls, Dalaran crashed on Blackrock Mountain, a place that has a lot to do with Black Dragonglight, but also with Ragnaros and Thaurissan, who both returned with the Doom in the Tomb adventure.
We just have to wait until Friday to get more information!
