After the seemingly official return of the Fortnite Battle Royale patch notes, Epic Games is continuing to surprise us today — this time with a rather surprising announcement.
On its official website, the publisher explained how they were extending the first season of this new chapter in Fortnite — until February 2020.
For now, it's unclear what Epic Games' intentions are with this announcement. Season 1 will be extended by more than two months, making it the longest in the history of the game, with no new long-term missions apparent.
Don't panic, however — the new content is precisely, according to Epic, what is driving this extension.
We should see a lot of new developments by the end of the year, all over the place — from missions and challenges to weapons and cosmetics.
This morning, prominent datameters such as Lucas7yoshi went as far as extracting a file showing the exact end date of the season.
This image shows a potential season end date as February 6, 2020.
From this, we could assume that season in Chapter 2 are likely to be much longer than previously, and that they would be characterized by a more radical change in the game experience, as was the case with the arrival of Apollo Island.
