Update from December 14: Despite servers' issues, the event finally took place and after a space battle and a (rather long) speech by JJ. Abrahams, the short clip from "Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker" was broadcast on a giant screen at Risky Reels. Plus, the long-awaited lightsaber has been made available to players who were waiting for it to finally turn into real Jedi.
Initial article
As part of a collaboration between the movie Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker and Fortnite, an exclusive extract from J. J. Abrams' work will be broadcast live on Risky Reels at today 11 am.
Since Thursday and update 11.30, Apollo Island has been significantly modified and a giant hologram revealing the countdown for the show has been set.
Where to watch the event?
As usual for this kind of non-standard event, Fortnite will have a specific mode in which players won't be able to eliminate each other, to fully enjoy the show. This mode should appear around 10:30 am, and the show will start at 11 am. If you don't want to miss it, you should arrive a little early!
Files extracted by dataminers suggest that it won't be a simple projection. We could well have a real galactic war off-screen above players' heads, since the datas seem to indicate the presence of files called "crashs".
Challenges and new places could also emerge directly after the event.
This preview screening is part of a broader collaboration with Star Wars, which we have so far been able to enjoy through special cosmetics, putting us in Rey, Finn or Stormtroopers' shoes!
