Beginning on August 23, the FreeFortnite Cup is intended to be a chargeable competition against Apple — with which Epic Games has almost entered into open warfare. Alongside the classic scoring system similar to other competitions, on Sunday there will be an alternative competition within the cup itself: apple tasting.
The 1,200 players who will have eaten the most apples during the matches of the session will leave with a console, a laptop or a phone.
Even if competing for this challenge is equivalent to giving up on the Cap — reward given to the best ranked players of the tournament — the game is clearly worth the candle!
Here are a few tips to try your luck.
Map
Let's start by studying the different spots that are available to you to complete this challenge. The largest markers indicate the clusters of apple trees, at the foot of which you'll find large numbers of apples. The small markers indicate the groupings of fruit crates, inside which you'll find apples.
The Orchard located north of Frenzy Farm seems to be the most obvious option for harvesting apples. It's likely that many players will rush there on D-Day and prevent you from collecting the fruit. If you think you're very strong on your own, this spawn can be very profitable. Avoid it otherwise!
Fruit crates will probably be the key on Sunday. You can find them all over the map, and some of them contain three or four apples. You'll find good quantities on The Yacht, or at Catty Corner.
Tips
- Apples only restore HP and can only be eaten if you are injured. If no enemies are nearby, you can jump three or four floors, then eat apples to regain your HP.
- Don't forget about kills: many players risk keeping apples in their inventory. Keep an eye on what players drop when they die. You'll be able to find fruit this way.
- Work on your spawns. You have a few hours left before the #FreeFortnite Cup, and some places are very rich in apples. It's up to you to train accordingly in single-player mode!
- Play every game to the fullest. You'll have a maximum of 12 games to play, over a period of four hours. On average, you'll be able to spend 20 minutes per game. If you can't manage to eat apples at the beginning of the game, don't give up. Even an apple found by a miracle at the end of the game can make a difference. Every fruit counts!
