In-game representation has always been something of a contentious issue withing the Call of Duty community. In 2018, Sledgehammer Games did eventually some form of in-game items into World War 2 but in comparison to some fan-designed skins, they looked hideous.
As the competitive Call of Duty community enters a new era, it has been revealed by Infinity Ward that in-game items for each respective franchise will be arriving on Modern Warfare to coincide with the beginning of the 2020 Call of Duty League.
A Perk of Franchising
Despite the heavy criticism of the switch to a city-based franchising league, seeing in-game representation for Call of Duty esports is certainly a big step forward in terms of overall growth of the league. Like last season, there were no sign of any team skins or stickers at all.
Now into franchising, there is a lot of potential for the league to build on this small, yet significant, addition to Modern Warfare.
Now if Infinity Ward can add a dedicated tab to the competitive scene in the game, then we could well be in for a very exciting year.
