While Epic Games has just announced an extension of Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2 by more than a month, update 12.40 should bring plenty of novelties. Last week was almost empty in terms of new content, so it would make sense that today would be the big day!
Epic Games has made it official via the Fortnite Status Twitter account. The release states that maintenance will be required. It should last between one and two hours if it's a standard patch.
Update 12.40 has been deployed. Maintenance is complete and the servers are available. You can play the game once the installation is finished.
A new rocket launcher and original items could be deployed according to some recent leaks. We may also have new information about the Doomsday event threatening Apollo Island.
Hard time for Fortnite players: the end of Chapter 2 Season 2 — and the start of the next season — has been postponed to June 4. That's more than a month after the original date.
