This was the very last patch of Fortnite Chapter 2 Season 2. Update 12.61 was deployed on the live servers on Monday evening, after about 1.5 hours of maintenance.

This patch is one of the most eagerly awaited of the season, notably because it should radically change the aim assist system. This feature is at the heart of heated debates on the competitive scene.
During the previous patch, Epic Games had reassured the community by explaining that v12.61 would solve this problem, most likely via a nerf of the aim assist.
For their part, dataminers around the world are getting ready because update 12.61 will contain files relating to the end of Season 2 — which event is scheduled for Saturday 30 — and the beginning of Season 3.
