Genshin Impact: learn everything about 'Epitomized Path', arriving in Version 2.0

Genshin Impact’s Version 2.0 is arriving next week, and it’s packed with many changes, improvements and new content. One of the latter has to do with a new wish mechanism that will be available for the Weapon Wish “Epitome Invocation”.

For those who are taking their first steps on this journey, Wishes (also known as “Banners”) are basically the gacha system in the game. You use them to have a chance of winning weapons and characters. In order to pull, you will need a specific item (Acquaint Fate) for the “Standard Wish”, the one which is permanent, and another one (Intertwined Fate) for the Limited-time Event Wishes. These two items can be acquired in a number of ways, such as purchasing Primogems with real money or doing other objectives.

The thing is, winning a 5-star character or weapon can be pretty tricky sometimes: they have a dropping base rate of less than 1%. There are some “drop guarantees”, such as the 90th pull being a 5-star item if you haven’t got one before, but you need to make a lot of pulls for that. Furthermore, you can get the same drop you already had, so getting the 5-star character and weapon can become quite a challenge.

However, miHoYo is adding a special mechanism in the upcoming update. This will be exclusive for Epitome Invocation at first, but it might be around for other Banners in the future. The feature “Epitomized Path” consists of charting the weapon that you want to get so you can avoid getting repeated drops. If you get a weapon that you didn’t choose, you’ll earn 1 “Fate Point”. After getting two of these, the next 5-star drop that you have is guaranteed to be the item you charted.

While not being a game-changer, this seems to be a proper way of helping Travelers in earning the items that they want. For more information, you can visit miHoYo's official blog
