Without a doubt, Elden Ring is one of the most anticipated games of the moment.
Now, various outlets are publishing their opinions after watching 15 minutes of Elden Ring gameplay, and there's a lot to digest regarding the title and its features.
There are many specific details in these previews, such as the fact that there is fast travel from anywhere on the map -- a new feature in the soulsborne games and that seemingly replaces the bonfire system of those games.
This tells us a little about the size of the game world, and that there are optional encounters to be had.
These encounters and other events will relate to the lore written by George R. R. Martin. These myths and legends written by Martin are the mythos of a world that will have several paths and endings.
In terms of gameplay itself, we've learned details such as the ability for casters and archers to be able to attack from horseback, something we'd only seen melee characters do.
In addition to this mechanic, the stealth mechanic from Sekiro returns. With the new, more open world, the possibilities are highly interesting.
There's also new gameplay features entirely, such as attacking after a normal block -- weaker than a parry, but which can be stopped. From Sekiro also comes the posture bar, and finally we know that there will be a kind of Nexus area a la Demons Souls.
Elden Ring is scheduled to be released on January 21, 2022.
