Elden Ring is an open world full of creatures of all kinds, most of them very aggressive. But some of them, like Miriel, the Shepherd Wish Turtle, are loves and will do anything to help you. In this case, the tortoise is a merchant within the Church of Vows. In FromSoftware games, it is possible to kill merchants and then collect their cinerary pearl so that you can access their shop even after their tragic death.
You see it coming, some players have committed the irreparable and attacked Miriel...
The gentle way
As you can imagine, some felt remorse after committing this barbaric act. Such is the case with VG_Crimson who, as the title of his Reddit post suggests, killed Miriel " so you don't have to ".
The player said: " I did it, I was seized with a morbid curiosity. Do I regret it? Yes. Would I do it again? Never ". As he describes the scene, his writings are full of remorse and one senses that the act is closer to a sacrifice than anything else.
" I have to live with this on my soul now, don't do this. There's nothing to be gained, and you not only lose her presence, you also lose a part of yourself, " he said. .
The less gentle way
This is where it gets serious. A gamer, going by the handle Prizzaa , posted a video of the poor turtle being annihilated, who is heard saying " I can't die, but I won't hurt you either. Cease your futile efforts " . However, Prizzaa does not stop and hammers Miriel with an emissary horn .
The player is used to making " What if (and if)... ? " type videos, and unfortunately this one had its place among the series. Under the publication, the comments of the community are numerous: " This is a servantless behavior ", " Do not harm turtles, it is worse than attacking humans ", or " People should be given the opportunity to invade any turtle killer at any time, even if the killer is resting in a site of grace, an eternal pursuit for a hideous crime ".
Redemption
To help murderous players repent, FromSoftware has indeed created an object capable of resuscitating NPCs so it's not too late for VG_Crimson as well as for Prizzaa to resurrect our favorite Elden Ring turtle.
In any case, you now know what will happen if you want to attack the Saint Miriel and therefore have no need to attempt the act. Let's hope that the turtle will therefore be able to continue to carry out its activity calmly... and alive.
