The months are still long before discovering the second season of Arcane, the animated series inspired by the League of Legends universe and broadcast on Netflix. The first season was a resounding success, driving up the audiences of the platform, but was also recognized for its quality by winning in particular 9 awards at the Annie Awards – the equivalent of the Oscars for animation.
But it was during another ceremony that we were finally able to have new statements on the show. The show's creators, Christian Linke and Alex Yee , revealed some information about the second season during a BAFTA stream on Twitch. The BAFTAs , British Academy of Film and Television Arts, are, to put it simply, the British Oscars. Each year they reward the worlds of cinema, television and video games. If the British Academy Film Awards ceremony was held on March 13, it will be necessary to wait until May 8 for the British Academy Television Awards — and we can legitimately hope to see Arcane nominated in various categories (the list of nominees is not still known).
The Vi/Caitlyn relationship at the center of season 2?
During the stream, when asked what fans can expect from Vi and Caitlyn's relationship in Arcane Season 2, Alex Yee, a creative designer working at Riot Games, said, "I think I can figure out how to answer that question with the right degree of vagueness! We've always wanted to tell an organic story about Caitlyn and Vi that feels really true to how we see them, you know, and how they've been seen. How we want to unfold this story has always been determined. So what you see in Season 2 will be part of the big picture we've had from the start."
During the first season of Arcane, the relationship between the two characters developed a lot, but slowly. At first suspicious of each other, the two women grew closer to finally trust each other – their ideals being finally quite close.
The relationship is also criticized by Jinx who then thinks that her sister is definitely moving away from her and prefers Cailtyn to her. This is one of the reasons why Powder is disappearing. The creators wanted to leave more room in the first season for their brotherly relationship, and favor a slower evolution of the Vi / Caitlyn relationship – a relationship that should be even more developed in season two and it is easy to assume that this is not going well. very much to Jinx.
Of course, this is only a thin track, but any information is good to take. We hope for a lot of new things in the second season but also answers . Is Silco really dead? (because I still have doubts). Who will take the place of the big bad? (Renata Glasc?) Will Jayce become a power-drunk tyrant? And finally, will we finally see Warwick aka Vander?
Anyway, we have to be patient. The broadcast of season 2 of Arcane on Netflix, is planned for 2023.
