Even though we're used to FromSoftware games giving us no favors, there may have been a bit of abuse from the developers when they put together the Elden Ring tutorial.
Too many players are missing out on this crucial step, so the creators of the Underworld decided to make the path to the tutorial clearer .
Why make the tutorial a mandatory step?
Many gamers must think they don't need the tutorial, especially the more seasoned ones who know Dark Souls and other FromSoftware titles inside out. However Elden Ring has made some changes to the usual Souls gameplay, including a more stealth-oriented approach and the addition of guard counter moves .
It was therefore necessary to push the players to do the tutorial so that they understood what the developers expected of them. The problem is that the path was not clear . As you can see in the image above, you can either continue your way to some normal stairs and a door, or jump into a dubious chasm.
Obviously, the left lane being the one that leads directly to the start of the game, it is indeed in the hole that you have to jump to face the tutorial. It was not explicit enough until then, so the developers had to add a pop-up that welcomes the player with this text:
" Jump into the hole in front of you and you will find the Cave of Knowledge. There you can learn more about basic game controls and actions, as well as other tips that may be useful during your adventures in the Underworld. "
No more doubt possible from now on: you have to jump into this hole.
Elden Ring: too easy for a FromSoftware?
Videos and posts on social networks concerning the ease of the game are legion. The publisher is known for providing the hardcore gaming community with a daunting challenge to push themselves, but it appears to be a failure for Elden Ring. More permissive than its big brothers , the game is intended to be more general public and less punitive, which is obviously not to everyone's taste since it is precisely the difficulty that is generally sought in Soulslike.
What is most surprising are the interactions at the limit of the bug which are largely exploitable by the majority of players. Often, the tryharders will discover here and there attack combos or patterns that allow them to abuse the game to quickly pass difficult passages or go through secret places. In Elden Ring, these interactions are so frequent and easy to provoke that they have almost become a full-fledged game mechanic . A large part of the bosses can be done easily thanks to bug abuse .
Despite everything, the Entre-Terre then becomes a place of challenge for speedrunning and entertainment, so even if everyone will not find something there, we must recognize that the game is accessible to a large majority of players, and that is quite a good thing!
