The Underworld is a region full of surprises and mysteries of all kinds. The Shardless around the world never cease to amaze us. Many mods, put in place by these inspired players, invite other fantastic universes into Elden Ring, for our greatest pleasure.
Recently, the Berserk mod had made the rounds of the networks, as it was well done and transported its players into a fight against Guts, the protagonist of the manga. The Entre-terre had also welcomed Homer Simpson, Shrek, and many other emblematic characters of pop culture. Earlier this week, two players recreated what seemed to be missing from Elden Ring: an adventure in Middle-earth .
The Lord of the Elden Ring
Combining the Lord of the Rings and Elden Ring universes seems like a no-brainer . Both are based on a rather similar lore, in an almost medieval, dark and magical world constantly threatened by darkness. So many players have asked themselves this question: "Is Elden Ring a Lord of the Rings game?"
Although it is possible that George RR Martin and Hidetaka Miyazaki were inspired by the fantastic universe of the Lord of the Rings saga for the writing of FromSoftware's game, Elden Ring has its own lore and is not directly related to Tolkien's creation. But two friends wanted to exploit this very present similarity, and thus recreated the adventures of Sam and Frodo in Middle-earth .
The short video shows our dear Frodo Baggins on his journey to destroy the ring, from the Shire to the volcanic mountains of Orodruin. He is of course accompanied by his sidekick Sam Gamegie , with whom he runs… a lot. The characters, created in Elden Ring therefore, are more than similar to the protagonists of Lord of the Rings and one could believe in a game of the license.
Frodo's mythical sword, Sting , is also included and lights up, as in Tolkien's films and novels, with a blue light when orcs are near. Additionally, it is possible to briefly observe the mythical fight of Sam and Frodo against Arachne , who poisons the owner of the ring and therefore causes his sidekick to continue his quest alone. This more than epic scene is recreated thanks to a creature similar to the multi-armed Keykeeper of the Castle of Voilorage in Elden Ring.
Did they use mods?
It's hard to say exactly if the two players used any mods for their "adaptation" because, after the release of the video in question, they did not post more details on its realization. However, it is highly likely that they used a mod to facilitate cooperative play, preventing the player "invading" the game from being entirely dependent on their host. Note that neither player is colored red or yellow, as they should normally be in the original Elden Ring game. Only the two players possess the secret of their achievement .
In any case, this short video immediately transports us to the fantastic universe of Lord of the Rings and confirms to us that Elden Ring and Tolkien's work work perfectly together!
