PS5: PlayStation already thinking about the future PS6?

PS5: PlayStation already thinking about the future PS6?

While players around the world are struggling to get their hands on Sony's latest console, here is a new job offer that seems to indicate that the manufacturer is already working on the next machine

Unfortunately, it's no secret that Sony gamers are indeed struggling to get a PS5 more than ever, and the same goes for Xbox gamers with the Xbox Series X. If the reason for this is due to a shortage of a certain component, this does not seem to worry manufacturers more than that, at least for the moment, if we are to believe the last job offer published on the web .

According to a publication by AMD , the American manufacturer of microprocessors, Sony, Microsoft and the said company are indeed already working on the next generation of consoles.

Next-gen consoles soon in our living rooms?

It is out of sight that the AMD company has posted a new job offer on the LinkedIn professional network, a job offer that is causing trouble and which can also make you smile in view of the current situation.

According to the latter, we understand that the company is currently working on the development of the next generation of chip, generation of chip which will therefore be integrated into the next consoles, both Sony's PlayStation 6 and the next Xbox .

The team behind the chip that powers the XBOX™, PlayStation™ and the latest RDNA family graphics chip is recruiting for its Markham, Canada site for the next generation chip development project [.. .] We are currently looking for a System-on-Chip Verification Engineer to be part of a team working on the next generation of a complex SOC design.

Through these words, doubt is not really allowed and we understand not without difficulty that the manufacturers PlayStation and Xbox are therefore indeed working on next-gen machines . However, with the current difficulty in sourcing certain components for the PS5 and Xbox Series, isn't this a decision a little too premature?

Sony wants to aim higher

Based on Sony's latest financial statement, we might think that the company's main goal is to sell as many PS5s as possible. The latest figures published are indeed below the firm's expectations, with, as of March 31, 2022, a total of 19.3 million consoles sold , which is still a very good figure, but still below the estimates made. in April 2021.

Thus, we can therefore ask ourselves, with the job offer freshly published by AMD, if it is perhaps not too early. Only time will tell, but one thing is certain, we will have to be very patient before we have any information on the next PlayStation or the next Xbox.

However, regarding Xbox , the manufacturer is apparently on another project which is to offer a connected key allowing owners of a Samsung smart TV to take advantage of the Xbox Games Pass catalog. Case to follow!
