Elden Ring and its vast universe fascinate players from all over the world! Released three months ago, FromSoftware's latest game inspires many Shatterless and thus, many challenges are born. Between speedruns, no-hits and others, there's nothing to get bored of in the Underworld, and Illusory Walls has understood this well. Accustomed to the games of the Dark Souls license, he now makes videos deciphering the smallest secrets of Elden Ring. But while he knows the game like the back of his hand, he was the first to notice that, since patch 1.04 , deployed last April, some bosses had greatly lost in difficulty...
It is during a video explaining the changes made by the famous patch 1.04 that Illusory Walls highlights the notable changes in behavior of certain bosses. This concerns group bosses, such as the duo of knights of the Crucible or the formidable duo Sanctechair.
From 10:50 of the Illusory Walls video, you can observe this more than strange phenomenon, which seems to slow down one of the two bosses of each duo. The creature then pauses, and waits for its sidekick to attack before attacking in turn. As a result, the charges against the player do not follow one another too quickly, as if to give the Shineless a short respite.
Duo bosses are therefore, since this update, much less aggressive and give players the opportunity to attack much more frequently. A welcome modification for those who could not overcome these bosses, but criticized by fans of challenges specific to souls-like of this type.
Voluntary nerf or mistake?
This is the question Elden Ring players ask themselves: Did the FromSoftware teams intentionally weaken these bosses? Nothing has been officially confirmed yet, but it's unlikely to be a mistake.
First, boss duos that have been nerfed are rated as "very difficult" by the community. They have therefore given players a hard time, although they are far from impossible. The FromSoftware teams could therefore have slightly weakened the bosses in question following the returns of the Shatterless.
Moreover, Elden Ring has many times been called "the easiest souls-like" . Because if you think Elden Ring is difficult, you probably haven't played Dark Souls or Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. FromSoftware is surely looking to make Elden Ring a mainstream Souls-like, more likely to attract a large number of players.
Everything would therefore lead to believe that this nerf is indeed voluntary, and that the FromSoftware teams did it in order to facilitate the victory of the Without Shards who cannot compete with the boss duos. However, nothing has been confirmed and it is possible that, thanks to a future patch, the bosses in question will find their difficulty of yesteryear, who knows?
