Elden Ring's 1.07 update is certainly the most important that has taken place, at least in the minds of PvP players. The reason is that FromSoftware has finally decided to integrate a feature long requested in the Dark Souls, as well as since the launch of the game: a calculation of damage and balances exclusive to PvP. This means that much more significant changes will be able to be made in order to balance PvP, without penalizing PvE players and cooperative.
Patch Notes 1.07: Summary of Main Changes
Here is a French translation of the most important points of the patch. You can find it in full and in English on the official website . The patch notes are really, really long this time, as they detail the changes to every weapon and every spell.
- Separate damage progression in player vs. player: The damage of weapons, skills, spells and incantation are different against other players. This does not affect single player and co-op content.
- Ashes of War damage almost all reduced in PvP.
- Some spells have their damage reduced in PvP, this includes the majority of dragon breaths.
- Balance damage, attack speed, and colossal weapon animations have been improved.
- With a few exceptions, the balance (poise) of all armor has been increased .
- Shields are rebalanced, with the worst shields gaining better blocking, and the best shields, Headprint Shield, having their block reduced.
- Reduced debuff effects in dual-wielding combat, which nerfs many dual katana builds.
- Rebalancing of many spells, which see their damage increased, as well as their casting time and their mana cost reduced.
- Seppuku sees the damage on activation increased, and the applied bleeding effect reduced.
- Fixed various bugs.
Ray Tracing and DLC coming in an upcoming patch?
Lance McDonald is certainly the most famous dataminer in all things FromSoftware games, and many discoveries in the files of the various games are due to him. He was quick to inspect the Elden Ring files after the patch was deployed, and his first findings were not long in coming.
The first concerns additions concerning Ray Tracing, even if the functionality is not yet officially present. The developers had announced that Ray Tracing would be added to Elden Ring after release, but it seems to be taking longer than expected.
The second addition will interest many more people, since references to two new cards that do not yet exist in the game files have just been found. Chances are these maps are from the first content DLC(s). Remember that these have still not been officially announced, we may have to wait a while for something a little more concrete.
