During the PlayStation Showcase on September 9, 2021, Insomniac presented its next title Wolverine on PS5. With a dark trailer and a Wolverine ready to fight, fans were eager to see this production appear on Sony's next-gen console. However, for a year the news about the game around Logan are very rare , not even a date / release window has made itself known.
But as little hope began to fade in the hearts of the Marvel community, a document from Microsoft came to revive the hype around the game because it mentions a release of the exclusive PlayStation for 2023!
Microsoft pulls out its claws?
For several months already, the gargantuan takeover of Activision Blizzard by Microsoft has been talked about. We will not go into detail on the latter as we have various articles that amply address the subject. All we need to know here is that in order for the takeover to be "validated", the UK Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) must certify that this transaction will not undermine competition too much as well as other industry players.
In this document , which Microsoft recently completed in order to convince the CMA, there is mention of Sony but also of its exclusives to come in 2023. We therefore observe Spider-man 2, Horizon, Final Fantasy XVI and… Wolverine?
Risky prediction or real info?
This is the question that arises and this is above all the reason why it is necessary to take this information with a grain of salt . Of course, Sony hasn't revealed a release window for Marvel's Wolverine just yet and it's possible that Microsoft made that prediction given that the PlayStation-exclusive video game production was unveiled last year. In addition, Insomniac Games (the studio supposed to be working on the Wolverine game in question) is already hard at work on Spider-man 2, which will land on it soon.
Conversely, it's also possible that Microsoft had industry insiders and they leaked that information before Sony did. The mystery remains whole and unfortunately, it will be necessary to wait for an official announcement from the Japanese giant before having the heart net.
