Getting Started
In Monster Hunter Rise, your character is sent into a central hub from which they will have to fully prepare for high-tension hunting battles against monsters up to ten times his or her size. Monster Hunter-like games rely on boss farming to build ever more powerful armor sets and weapons. As for the gameplay, we are dealing with demanding "action" confrontations, with quite heavy characters and types of weapons that drastically change the way to approach them. It will probably take you several hours to get used to all these mechanics.
Find a Weapon That Suits You
Whether it's the combos to be performed, the placements during fights, or the direct effects on the monster, there are many parameters to take into account when choosing your weapon of choice. For example, a hammer will be very useful to stun a monster by hitting it in the head with a few well-placed blows, but will not be able to cut off the monster's limbs.
Two easy-to-use weapons to get started
- Longsword: The longsword has a great range and its mechanics are very simple to understand. It is a great starting point if you want to play melee.
- Dual Blades: The Dual Blades allow the hunter to move at full speed thanks to the demon mode while doing a lot of damage to monsters.
Kamura and its Features
The Central Hub is the stronghold from which you will plan your hunts and upgrade your equipment. As you progress, Kamura will be enriched with new features that will deepen the gameplay and all your possibilities, such as the Buddy Plazza, from which you will manage your Palicoes and your Palamute, your two indispensable companions. All the essential NPCs are dispersed around the player as soon as they arrive in the village. Look out for the bubbles above the heads of the inhabitants, which correspond to important requests. The Hub Quest
The quests are divided into two distinct progression paths: one for single players and one for multiplayer. Some points in your single-player progression will allow you to pass "allowed" quests that will jump ranks in multiplayer. If you're playing solo at first, don't bother completing all the quests on both sides, just focus on single-player and the multiplayer permits should drop off as you progress, saving you a lot of time when you want to dive into some more ambitious multiplayer hunts.
Preparations
Monster Hunter Rise takes up excellent comfort options such as the automatic crafting of consumables as you harvest. Preparations are significantly lightened, and you don't have to worry about much other than the presence of consumables essential to your survival.
- 10 Potions: Herbs
- 10 Mega-Potions: Potion + Honey
- Cooked Meat: Raw Meat + BBQ Grill
These are the three basic consumables you'll need when embarking on a hunt, but other items will be needed to complete your bag depending on the monster you'll be fighting. The boxes near your tent should provide a few copies of these special consumables, without you having to craft them, in addition to rations for the stamina and low-level healing items.
The tea room and its delicious dangos will increase your health gauge, your stamina, and give you passive bonuses for even more chances to blow up your target and collect a lot of loot.
Equipment and Talents
By killing or capturing large monsters, you will collect components that you can use to make their armor sets. Each set has different talents, to optimize your hunter's skills and allow them to adapt to the different situations imposed by certain types of monsters. However, we would like to draw your attention to the substitution talents, a new feature that will modify the new attacks linked to the Wirebug: don't hesitate to do some tests on simple hunts when you unlock them, it should refine your way of seeing the fights even more, for even more fun. Wirebugs
A special grappling hook, the Wirebug, allows you to jump several times in a row and it is possible to run on every wall for long seconds. You'll have to master the machine first before you can do endless antics. The basic Wirebug allows two jumps, but by diving against a wall, it is possible to take support to climb until your stamina is completely consumed. It takes a little time to get used to it, and we recommend that you go on an expedition to be able to train properly and without pressure.
Wyvern Riding
It is not possible to use hits on a monster to climb on its back. Two monsters will have to cross each other and fight until one of them is knocked out. It is then possible to climb on top of it and steer it: hitting in this position causes a lot of damage and also drops monster components. These little white animals will allow you to attract a monster wherever you want thanks to special pheromones, it's very practical, get them as soon as you can.

Endemic Life and Buddies
In addition to the Palamute, the hunter's best friends, and the traditional Palico, any insects or shiny animals you come across are likely to bring you bonuses or be valuable helpers in battle. We strongly recommend that you learn their effects well and use them as soon as possible, as they are not simple "bonuses", but real tools that can make your life much easier. As for the two pets mentioned above, they are of several types and will evolve thanks to a system of experience and skills.
