The Elden Ring beta was announced alongside its one-month postponement, perhaps as a way to mitigate the disappointment of fans. However, they should temper their expectations, as only 50,000 players will be selected to take part in November.
Given the popularity of the unreleased game, it wouldn't be surprising if there were millions of people who apply. The official site and the legal document aside — which is much less readable — provide important details.
How do I participate in the Elden Ring beta?
You can register on this page by creating a Bandai Namco EPIC account: you will need to fill out a short quiz that will ask you about games from the studio you have played in the past. We don't know to what extent this will influence selection, but we assume Bandai Namco will try to invite a range of player profiles.
The only important section is the platform choice. This beta session will not be available on PC, probably in an attempt to limit datamining, or for technical reasons. You can choose between PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X|S. You can select only one from the list, and if you have more than one console, you might want to choose a less popular platform, such as the Xbox One or the Xbox Series S, for a greater chance of selection.
Beta dates and times
The Closed Network Test will take place November 12-15, across 5 sessions of 3 hours each, and at very different times:
- November 12th → 3:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. PST
- November 13th → 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. PST
- November 13th → 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. PST
- November 14th → 3:00 a.m. to 6:00 a.m. PST
- November 15th → 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m. PST
It has been confirmed that players will be able to play together, but not cross-platform between Sony and Microsoft consoles. Players on PS4 and PS5 will play together, with the same applying to those on Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S.
