The release of Warcraft Arclight Rumble is probably still a long way off, but there is already doubt about the deployment of the title in Belgium. Since 2018, this country has provided a strong legal arsenal against games (especially on mobile) that use lootboxes in all their forms. Clearly, the law prohibits games in which purchases are random mechanisms for acquiring objects (characters, weapons, cards, etc.).
For Warcraft Arclight Rumble, it's still the big blur. The developers assure that their game does not contain any lootboxes, and that "purchases in the store are transparent since it suffices to spend the required amount to obtain the desired unit in its entirety". But on the Playstore, there is mention of "in-game purchases including random items". Could it be that there is a part of randomness in the items offered, without the shop having recourse to loot boxes?
For the moment, Belgian players are worried because the Playstore explicitly states that the game will not be available in their country. Will this situation be unblocked at the final launch of the title?
However, many commentators and specialized media are much more confident that Warcraft Arclight Rumble will land in Belgium. For them, the word of the developers prevails over the warning of the Play Store.
We will probably have to wait a few more weeks for the situation to settle down, and especially to see in more detail how the game shop works.
