Wolcen has had a successful launch, but sentiment appears to be that it was released little too early. Despite the many bugs present in the game as it is, Wolcen Studio are responsive — a new patch is detailed here, along with explanations of the server issues.
In short, the developers didn't expect such a response to Wolcen, and their infrastructure wasn't adapted to such an influx of players. The latter is being improved, and their fix should improve things — although it may be pertinent to play offline if you still encounter problems.
The patch should be deployed within a week. It fixes many bugs, features that weren't working properly, and it drastically changes the balance of the apocalypse forms. These will have a shorter duration, but they will also deal more damage.
