Mass Effect 3

The final episode continues some of the romances from the previous games. Some romances are only possible if you started them in previous games and keep playing with the same save.

One romance falls apart, the one with Jacob Taylor. There are also a few new romances available, including with characters that previously didn't matter.

It is possible to have sex with Diana Allers, the war correspondent, regardless of your gender, but it does not count as a romantic relationship and does not confer a trophy.

Mass Effect: Legendary Edition

Romances exclusive to male Shepard

  • Miranda Lawson: You can keep your relationship going if you started it in Mass Effect 2. It's too late to start it any other way.
  • Tali'Zorah: As with Miranda, you can maintain your relationship if you started it in Mass Effect 2.
  • Jack: Again, this is a relationship you can maintain if you started it in Mass Effect 2.
  • Ashley Williams: You can establish a romantic relationship even without having had a relationship in the first game, at least if you didn't sacrifice her on Vimir. You can also relight the old flame.
  • Steve Cortez: A pilot aboard the Normandy. This is the first purely homosexual male relationship available to Shepard.

Romances exclusive to female Shepard

  • Samantha Traynor: The communications manager on board the Normandy. This is the first purely homosexual human relationship for the female version of Shepard.
  • Garrus Vakarian: You can keep your relationship going if you started it in Mass Effect 2. It's too late to start it any other way.
  • Thane Krios: You can keep your relationship going if you started it in Mass Effect 2. It's too late to start it any other way. However, it does not confer the Paramour trophy in this third game.
  • Javik: The last Prothean, originally introduced with a DLC, also needed a second DLC to become a potential romance.
  • James Vega: This newcomer is a potential romance since the Citadel DLC.

Romances open to both sexes

  • Kaiden Alenko: If he survived Vimir in Mass Effect 1, Kaiden has reassessed his sexual orientation and a relationship can be started regardless of Shepard's gender this time around, so you can woo him right now. It goes without saying that if you started a relationship in the first game, it can be continued.
  • Kelly Chambers: If you started a romantic relationship with your assistant in Mass Effect 2, it becomes a real relationship this time around. Otherwise, it is too late.
  • Liara T'Soni: Whether you've preserved your relationship in previous games or just started from scratch, you can woo her.
  • Tali'Zorah: As with Miranda, You can maintain your relationship if you started it in Mass Effect 2.
  • Jack: Again, this is a relationship you can maintain if you started it in Mass Effect 2.
  • Ashley Williams: You can establish a romantic relationship even without having had a relationship in the first game, at least if you didn't sacrifice it on Vimir. You can also relight the flame in the second case.
  • Samara: If you shared your feelings during Mass Effect 2, that now becomes an option.
