FIFA 20: Michael Essien revealed as new Icon for Ultimate Team

EA Sports today revealed that Michael Essien will be one of the new Icons coming to FIFA 20 Ultimate Team.

Most fans were expecting the Essien announcement (as his distinctive hairstyle was quite easy to spot in the silhouette on EA's original teaser post) and today confirmed that the Ghanian midfielder will be in FIFA 20.

He is the second former Chelsea player to become a new Icon for FIFA 20, following the announcement of Didier Drogba back in July.

Interestingly, Essien has become an Icon despite still being an active player for a club in the Azerbaijan Premier League.

Although his stats haven't been revealed, Essien could become an elite tier midfielder and potentially rival the likes of Patrick Vieira, who is a staple in a lot of pro player's squads.
