The dragon flies from the Lake Hylia at 12:30AM every night, then flies around the Faron land for several hours. To get to him easily, we start in the Qukah Nata shrine around 1:30AM/2AM. From this place, it's easier to reach him and take off one of his scales. Once you got it, head to the West in the courage source (be warned, the place is heavily guarded).
